Scones are a must at a British tea time. Refined with our light fine cocoa chocolate, they have that certain something extra and would certainly go down well with the Queen too. In the UK, they are served with clotted cream, jam and a cup of tea. At the end of the recipe, we have a delicious alternative for the jam. Try this recipe, bring a little bit of Britain into your home and enjoy the scones for breakfast, brunch or tea time.
Recipe for 10 chocolate chip scones
Ingredients:
400 g flour
4g salt
80 g sugar
80 g softened butter
240 g yogurt
6g baking soda
50 g chocolate pearls 'Rausch Trinkschokolade Venezuela 43 %'
Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 220¬∞ C or 200° C if using a fan oven.
Mix the yogurt with the sugar and salt until well combined.
Roughly knead the flour with the butter and baking soda. Then add the yoghurt and sugar mixture and knead briefly.
Then add the chocolate pearls. However, only continue kneading until they are incorporated into the dough.
Roll out the dough to a thickness of approx. 2.5 cm on a floured surface and cut out circles with a cutter (approx. 7 cm). If you don't have any cutters to hand, you can also use a glass or cup as a cutter.
Brush the circles with milk and bake for approx. 12 to 15 minutes.
Tip:
Instead of clotted cream and jam, we recommend fresh butter with one of our delicious spreads. For example chocolate-strawberry or chocolate-pear.
