OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR SUSTAINABILITY

"We want to know exactly where our fine flavour cocoa comes from, who grows it and how the processes take place on site. That's why we cut out the middlemen, start at the source and accompany the cocoa bean all the way through to direct sale to the customer. We are convinced that we can only obtain the best raw materials and therefore the best chocolate through fair and sustainable trade."

Robert Rausch

FOR SEVERAL GENERATIONS

LONG-TERM THINKING

Since 1918, Rausch has stood for excellent chocolate creations made from pure ingredients and to the highest quality standards. Robert Rausch is the fifth generation to implement the core values of our traditional Berlin company: no compromises on quality and continuous sustainability. As a family business, sustainability for us means passing on a healthy company to the next generation and making decisions from an ecological, economic, social and technological perspective.

We attach particular importance to product responsibility, working with cocoa farmers and cooperatives and how we treat our employees.

MILESTONES ACHIEVED

We are proud of our sustainability achievements to date, particularly our project in Costa Rica, where we have built a self-sufficient fine flavour cocoa institute and sequestered CO2.

DIRECT REFERENCE

In addition to our own plantation, we also focus on sustainability and fairness with our partners. We guarantee cocoa farmers prices well above the world market level and offer training from our experts. We expressly condemn child labor and have contracts that exclude their employment. This is regularly checked through personal visits.

FAIR AND RELIABLE

OUR COMMITMENT TO A BETTER FUTURE

The Rausch Group in Germany has set itself the goal of reducing its ecological footprint until it leaves no trace behind. From production and shipping to the enjoyment of our customers. Our vision is to produce the best chocolates from pure ingredients, without harming people or the environment. Rausch focuses primarily on the following areas.

PRODUCTION

All Rausch products are "Made in Germany" and show considerable progress in environmentally friendly production. Our plants use only green electricity and our own solar energy, which covers 20% of our needs, supplemented by technologies such as heat recovery and process heating/cooling cogeneration using heat pumps. Our energy management has been certified according to the international standard (ISO 50001) since 2015.

We are currently working on expanding our approx. 50,000 m² of roof space with solar panels and on completely eliminating fossil fuels in order to continue to make our production processes sustainable.

PACKAGING

We have made significant progress in our packaging strategy, which is aimed at minimizing our environmental impact. For Rausch Plantagen chocolates and pralines, we already use outer packaging made from natural paper and completely dispense with disposable plastic in the to-go business. Our efforts to effectively recycle our sales packaging have been recognized with the "Der Grüne Punkt" environmental certificate.

We are also working on making our protective films aluminium-free in order to further strengthen our environmental commitments and reduce our ecological footprint.

LOGISTICS

We have already converted 98% of our vehicle fleet to electric vehicles, which significantly reduces our environmental impact. In addition, storage areas have been set up directly in production to minimize commuter traffic. Thanks to optimized warehouse processes, our outgoing transports achieve 100% capacity utilization.

Other goals include the development of a comprehensive air conditioning concept for our warehouses, the complete electrification of our vehicle fleet and the automation and decarbonization of internal transport.

We are also setting new standards in shipping: In partnership with DHL GoGreen, we ship all parcels CO2-neutrally and are continuously working to optimize our carbon emissions.

SUSTAINABILITY AS PART OF OUR DNA

Our entire team stands behind the vision of producing the best chocolate from pure ingredients without harming people or the environment. This is reflected in our "Tree to Door" philosophy, which accompanies the entire journey of the cocoa bean from the plant to the customer.

Robert Rausch

CEO & Owner

"The decision to work exclusively with single origin fine flavour cocoa was a conscious one. We want to highlight the full potential of a plantation and the characteristics of a fine flavour cocoa. This is only possible if we are part of the story from the very beginning."

Dr. Christina Rohsius

Head of Cocoa & Research

"Sustainable management on a fine flavour cocoa plantation is a challenge. But there is nothing more exciting for me! I work in the Quality & Research department. For example, we are currently testing the use of microorganisms to facilitate the absorption of plant nutrients."

Edward Perez

Plantation employees

"I fulfill the role of foreman, which is very important to me. I have been able to learn new and better methods for plant management that increase production while maintaining quality, which is very important for the company."

Katja Liebing

Chef Patissiere

"We only use the best fine cocoa, the best ingredients and the best raw materials to make our cakes, pralines and tarts. And you can taste it."

Jonathan Sojo Nuñez

Field worker plantation

"I was very surprised to learn that fine flavour cocoa is used in a variety of rich and healthy foods."
