Chocolate cake for my favorite person

When it's Mother's Day, Valentine's Day or an anniversary, we say thank you and preferably with a homemade chocolate cake. We can also combine the chocolate cake with fresh fruit - one of our favorites.

Recipe for chocolate cake in heart shape (baking tin 24 cm)

Ingredients for the chocolate cake:

250 g butter
250 g fine flavor cocoa chocolate 'Rausch Plantagen Costa Rica 75 %'
375 g sugar
375 g flour
2.5 tbsp baking powder
50 g fine flavor cocoa powder
300 ml milk
4 eggs

Ingredients for the vanilla cream:

1 packet of vanilla custard powder
1level tablespoon of starch
400 ml milk
40 g sugar

Ingredients for the topping:

Various seasonal fruits to decorate. We recommend fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries for the color contrast.

Preparation of the chocolate cake:

Preheat the oven to 160° C top/bottom heat.

Cover the frame of the baking tin with aluminum foil and grease.

Melt the butter with the fine cocoa chocolate in a bain-marie and dissolve the sugar in it.

Sieve the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder into a large bowl and mix with the eggs and milk to form a dough. We recommend using a food processor or a hand mixer.

Then stir the chocolate and butter mixture into the batter.

Pour the finished batter into the prepared baking tin and bake for approx. 45 to 55 minutes. From time to time, insert a skewer into the center of the cake to check whether it is baked.

Remove the baked cake from the oven and leave to cool.

Preparation of the vanilla cream:

Mix the starch with the custard powder and sugar.

Cook the custard cream according to the instructions. Only use 400 ml milk instead of 500 ml!

Pour the custard cream into a bowl, cover with cling film and leave to cool.

Preparation of ready-made chocolate cake in heart shape:

Carefully remove the chocolate cake from the baking tin.

Briefly whip the cooled pudding cream and pour into a piping bag. Pipe the lines of the heart shape from the outside to the inside until the entire heart is covered with the custard cream

Then decorate the cake with various berries and sprinkle thinly with powdered sugar. There are no limits to your creativity here.
