Original Berlin wafers made from yeast dough with fine pearls of fine cocoa chocolate

Original Berliner Waffeln aus Hefeteig mit feinen Perlen aus Edelkakao-Schokolade

For breakfast with fresh fruit, as a sweet lunch at the weekend or instead of coffee and cake simply a hot chocolate drink and original Berlin waffles. Sounds good, doesn't it? That's why we love them so much and recommend baking all kinds of variations of this simple recipe.

Recipe for 8 waffles

Ingredients:

250 g flour
1/2 yeast cube
50 ml milk (lukewarm)
50 ml water (lukewarm)
2 eggs
150 g butter, room temperature
150 g caster sugar
150 g chocolate pearls 'Rausch Trinkschokolade Ecuador 70 %'
Also: zest of an organic orange, light fine flavor cocoa chocolate 'Rausch Venezuela 43% Pure' or dark fine flavor cocoa chocolate 'Rausch Plantagen Ecuador 70 %'

Preparation:

Mix the milk with the water, crumble the yeast and dissolve in it.

Pour the flour into a large bowl, add the eggs, yeast milk and butter to the flour. Mix everything together and knead the dough for a few minutes.

Leave the yeast dough to rise in a warm place for approx. 30 minutes.

Once the dough has rested, add the caster sugar and chocolate drops to the dough and mix together.

Bake immediately in a hot waffle iron until golden brown.

Tips:

Carefully wash the organic orange and mix some zest into the yeast dough

In addition, melt some fine cocoa chocolate - light or dark, depending on taste - in a bain-marie and pour over the fresh waffles.
