Valentine's Day on February 14 is considered a very special day for lovers not only in Germany, but in many countries around the world.

The tradition of this day goes back to two Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day was introduced by Pope Gelasius I in 469 and was only removed from the Roman general calendar in 1969. However, there are still said to be church services around February 14 in which married couples are blessed.
